The Horror of Nuclear Power

Photo by (c) Kevin ConnorsBetween 1951 and 1957, nuclear bombs were tested on American soldiers in the Nevada Desert.

These soldiers (many of which were veterans who had survived World War II) didn’t have a clue they were exposed to high levels of radiation and risking their lives just by being there…

Thousands of them later suffered from radiation sickness, nausea, and cancers, whilst their children were born with deformities.

Almost a century after the first nuclear explosion, our leaders big mistake was not to have got rid of nuclear weapons before some other countries (such as Iran for example), who now also pretend to become nuclear powers, threaten world peace with the most horrific weapon that was ever invented.

“I made one great mistake in my life… when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt recommending that atom bombs be made; but there was some justification – the danger that the Germans would make them.”
(Albert Einstein, quoted in Ronald Clark, “Einstein: The Life and Times”, page 752)
